Jail terms for cannabis couriers

Two drug couriers caught with more than 800 cannabis plants have been given jail terms totalling nearly six years.

Nuo Lin, a prisoner at Dumfries, and Jia Xue, who was being held at an immigration centre, were caught on the M74 motorway near Ecclefechan in March.

The 30-year-olds were found guilty of being involved in supplying the drug. Dumfries Sheriff Court heard the crop had a street value of nearly £250,000.

Lin was jailed for three years and Xue was sentenced to two years, 10 months.
