Armoured vehicle strike talks bid

Penman
Talks will be held in a bid to resolve the pay dispute at Penman

Talks have been scheduled to try to end a pay dispute which resulted in strike action at an armoured vehicle firm.

Almost 100 staff walked out last week at the Penman plant at Heathhall, near Dumfries, in the first of three planned one-day stoppages.

Any further industrial action has been suspended pending the outcome of fresh talks with management.

The negotiations will be hosted by the Scottish Engineering Employers Federation.

The dispute centres on the interpretation of the details of a previously agreed four-year salary deal which is now in its second year.

A spokesman for the T&G section of the Unite union said it hoped the latest talks would lead to a resolution.
