Stolen Wickerman tickets warning

Wickerman Festival
The Wickerman Festival is now in its eighth year

Police have launched an investigation following the theft of tickets for a music festival in southern Scotland.

The incident occurred during a battle of the bands event being held in Dumfries on Sunday afternoon.

A total of 125 tickets for the Wickerman Festival - with a value of about £8,000 - were taken from the Dumfries and Galloway College premises.

Event spokesman Sid Ambrose said the theft had been logged in its computer system making the tickets "worthless".

The Wickerman Festival, now in its eighth year, is being held at East Kirkcarswell Farm, near Kirkcudbright on 24 and 25 July.

The Magic Numbers, The Human League and The Zutons have been confirmed as headline acts.

The tickets taken included weekend adult tickets, Saturday adult tickets and children's weekend tickets.

Mr Ambrose said: "If anybody tries to gain entry with any of the stolen tickets they will be refused admission and the matter referred to the police."

Anyone with any information about the stolen tickets or who is offered any tickets from a non-official outlet has been asked to contact police.
