Plexus plans to employ 50 staff at its new site in the Borders
An electronics firm has announced expansion plans in Scotland after winning a number of new contracts.
Plexus has confirmed moves to lease a site at Tweedbank near Galashiels in addition to its current base in Kelso.
It is anticipated that the new facility will employ about 50 staff once it is fully operational later this year.
Managing director Willie MacKinnon said it was an "exciting opportunity" for the company and underlined it commitment to the Scottish Borders.
Plexus currently employs about 270 people in Scotland - the majority at a manufacturing base in Kelso with the remainder at a design centre in Livingston.
Mr MacKinnon said: "This expansion provides an exciting opportunity for Plexus and its employees in the UK and shows our ongoing commitment to the area.
"It also demonstrates our ability to attract new opportunities, despite the economic downturn."
He said about half of the posts at the Tweedbank site would be new jobs with the remainder being redistributed from other locations.
