The Human League will headline the Wickerman Festival

The Human League and The Zutons have been unveiled as the headline acts at this year's Wickerman Festival.

It is the eighth edition of the event which is held on farmland near Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway.

Organisers said they were pleased to confirm the first acts at what they describe as "Scotland's friendliest music event".

The two-day festival - on 24 and 25 July - will also feature Billy Bragg, UK Subs and reggae act Zion Train.

Sheffield synth-pop pioneers The Human League are best known for a string of 1980s hits including the likes of Don't You Want Me and Keep Feeling Fascination.

They will headline the Wickerman on 24 July.

The following day the bill will be topped by Liverpool indie band The Zutons.

Festival co-ordinator Helen Chalmers said: "The festival team hope everyone will be as delighted with the first announcement as we are.

"We promise there is much more to come with over 100 acts still to be announced."
