Wind farm proposal put on display

The company wants to build 10 turbines at the new farm

Plans for a new 10-turbine wind farm in south west Scotland will go on display later this month.

Power supplier E.ON is holding a public exhibition at the McMillan Hall in Newton Stewart on 15 January for its scheme near Ochiltree Loch.

The proposed 23MW wind farm would be located about eight miles north west of the village, west of the A714.

The company said that, if approved, the turbines could meet the annual power needs of about 12,800 homes.

E.ON project developer Hayley Meadley said it was "extremely important" to keep local people informed about the scheme.

"I would urge anybody living within the area to come along to the exhibition and talk to us about the site and to find out why we think this is such a great location for a wind farm," she said.
