A Scottish pharmaceutical firm has concluded a deal to market its testosterone gel across 65 countries.

Borders-based ProStrakan has agreed the exclusive licence for Tostran with Bayer Schering Pharma.

The deal covers Canada, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Pacific region.

Tostran is a 2% testosterone gel designed to treat men with the condition hypogonadism, caused by testosterone deficiency.

Under the terms of the agreement, ProStrakan will receive undisclosed upfront and milestone payments subject to achieving certain sales targets.

Low testosterone levels are associated with symptoms such as reduced energy levels, moodiness, low libido and increased risk of osteoporosis and death.
