Man charged with post office raid

A 39-year-old man has appeared in court charged on petition with assault and robbery at a village post office in the Scottish Borders.

Patrick Loyden, of Sunnilaws Farm Cottage, Cornhill, appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

He is alleged to have carried out the robbery at the post office in Town Yetholm on Friday.

It was confirmed Mr Loyden made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
