A buyer has been found after the company went into administration

A buyer has been found for a dyeing factory after the firm running it went into administration last month.

A total of 52 workers were made redundant at the Langholm Dyeing Company with 10 staff retained to help wind up operations.

A former employee has now bought the building, plant and equipment and taken on 15 staff under the name FTS dyers.

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell said it was "good news" that the factory would be brought back into operation.

The new company aims to have about 30 staff working on the site by October.

Mr Mundell said he hoped the business would go "from strength to strength".

He added: "It was clear early on that a solution would be needed very quickly and the administrators of the Langholm Dyeing Company took a very positive response.

"The company got into difficulty originally, not because it was not a viable business, but because it was a victim of the global credit crunch and had American backers.

"It is very good news that the dyeing trade will continue at these works."
