17m leisure centre opens doors

DG One leisure centre
The DG One leisure centre has now opened to the public

A 17m leisure complex in south west Scotland has opened its doors to the public.

A number of delays have pushed the DG One development in Dumfries several months behind schedule.

However, the flagship facility - to replace the town's old swimming pool and Loreburn Hall - was completed earlier this month.

Three swimming pool areas, a fitness suite and a 1,200-seat event venue are included in the centre.

A busy programme of events is planned for its first few days in operation.

Scots comedienne Karen Dunbar performs on Friday night with tribute band Abba Mania taking to the stage on Saturday.
