Man denies child shooting threats

A man is to stand trial on a charge of claiming to have a gun and threatening to take a hostage in a Borders town.

David Williamson, 44, a prisoner in Edinburgh, is alleged to have committed the offence at a house in Bongate View, Jedburgh, on 30 January.

Appearing at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, he also denied threatening to shoot a woman in a local newsagents and threatening to shoot a man's children.

Mr Williamson will stand trial by jury on 23 April.
