Hospital parking plan progresses
Dumfries Infirmary
A new parking plan has been proposed at the hospital
A timetable for efforts to tackle car parking problems outside Dumfries Infirmary has been drawn up.

Last year it was claimed the situation had reached a "crisis", with vehicles blocking ambulance bays and affecting the delivery of medical supplies.

It is hoped more than 100 new spaces can be created along with separate staff and visitor parking areas.

A parking disc system enforced by fixed penalty fines is also part of the plan to tackle the issue.

In the short term, a token system may be introduced allowing parking bays at the new dental centre to be used for out-patients.

Full proposals will be outlined next month, following on from the development of travel plan for the hospital site.
