Pay parking proposals thrown out
Attempts to introduce pay parking meters in the Scottish Borders have been rejected by councillors.

Members of Tweeddale Area Committee unanimously voted against pay and display plans for Peebles town centre.

The proposals to place 10 meters on the High Street, Old Town and Northgate attracted 154 objections.

Chairman of the area committee Graham Garvie also called for better enforcement of current parking restrictions in the town.
