Gretna Football Club's millionaire owner Brooks Mileson has been admitted to hospital.

The Scottish Premier League side said Mr Mileson, who has a history of health problems, had been admitted to hospital on Monday to undergo a series of tests.

During his five years in charge, Mr Mileson, 59, has seen Gretna rise from the lower leagues to the top flight.

Chief executive Graeme Muir said everyone at the club was concerned for Mr Mileson's well-being.

"He was feeling very unwell yesterday morning - he is currently undergoing a series of tests," he said.

"He is very unwell but he is in the right place.

"People know that Brooks does not carry the best of health - but people also know he is also a strong character."
