Ms Riding denied the assault charge at Jedburgh Sheriff Court
A female jockey is to face trial on an assault charge in the Scottish Borders.

Jenny Riding, 24, of Ferniehill Court, Kelso, denied a charge at Jedburgh Sheriff Court of assaulting a man on 7 July last year.

The runner-up in the 2007 National Hunt ladies championship for amateur riders will stand trial on 20 February.

She has also denied a charge of recklessly throwing a glass into a local pub which struck and injured another man on the same date.

Ms Riding has ridden four winners from 31 mounts so far this season.

That is just one short of the total she achieved in the entire 2006/07 campaign.
