Dumfries Sheriff Court
Mr James appeared in private at Dumfries Sheriff Court
A man has appeared in court accused of driving at up to 143mph and then posting a video clip of his actions on the YouTube website.

Scott James, 20, of Bearcroft Farm, Holywood, near Dumfires, appeared in private before Sheriff Kenneth Hogg.

He was on a petition alleging the offence on the A76 Dumfries to Kilmarnock road near to Holywood village between 1 January and 26 July.

No plea or declaration was made and the case was continued.

It was alleged that Mr James drove at up to 143mph while filming the speedometer with a mobile phone and put himself and other road users in potential danger of death or injury.

The charge further claimed that on 26 July he put a video clip on the website creating a possible danger that others might copy him.

He was also accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice by covering the number plate.
