Drug users told to 'limit intake'
Drug taking
Police have asked drug users to cut the amount being taken
Police have appealed to drug users to "limit intake" after a suspected drug-related death in Dumfries.

Officers were called to an address in the town's Armour Drive at about 2200 GMT on Wednesday and discovered a body within the premises.

The man has been identified as Christopher Bryden, 31, from Dumfries.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around that time or anyone who saw Mr Bryden in the hours leading up to his death.

The incident has prompted a police warning to drug users not to use substances to excess.

Dumfries and Galloway Police said there had been an increase in the number of people suffering overdoses in the region.

'Dangers involved'

"Users should be careful and limit their intake of any substance," said Pc Scott Jardine.

"They should be fully aware of the dangers involved and they should also be mindful to check the welfare of their friends who use drugs."

Acting Det Insp Colin McColm said it was part of the force's "community promise" to reduce the harm caused by drugs.

"To do this we need to work with partner agencies and support users," he said.

"We need to remind them of the dangers of using drugs and highlight welfare issues."
