Man appears on 1967 murder charge

A man has appeared via video conference link from Peterhead prison charged with the murder of a woman who went missing in Dumfries 40 years ago.

Thomas Ross Young, 72, was fully committed on petition charged with the murder of 17-year-old Patricia McAdam.

The brief hearing was held via video link at the procurator fiscal's office in Dumfries.

Mr Young made no plea or declaration at the hearing before Sheriff Kenneth Ross and was remanded in custody.
