Man charged with court murder bid

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a teenager on the steps of a court building in the Scottish Borders.

Colin Valentine, 31, of Roxburgh Place, Newtown St Boswells, is accused of assaulting Daniel Whigham, 19, outside Selkirk Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Mr Valentine was remanded in custody by Sheriff Kevin Drummond.
