A convicted murderer has been jailed for three years for slashing a fellow prisoner with a coffee jar.
George McGeoch, 35, of Glasgow, attacked rapist Peter Docherty, 36, in a recreation room in Dumfries Prison on 19 July last year.
He had been charged with attempted murder at the High Court in Glasgow but was instead found guilty of assault.
His latest jail term will run from the end of the punishment part of his sentence for murder.
McGeoch was jailed for life at the High Court in Inverness in April 1999 for murdering Eric Innes and sentenced to 13 years.
