A72 car crash victim identified
A 70-year-old man has been killed in a two-vehicle accident on the A72 near Peebles on Sunday afternoon.

Brian Ellis, of Blyth, Northumberland, died in the collision just outside the town at about 1455 BST.

A 69-year-old woman travelling with him suffered serious head injuries in the accident and is in a "critical but stable" condition.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 65-year-old man, suffered leg injuries in the accident.

The road was closed for most of the afternoon so that police officers could carry out an investigation.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to come forward.
