The university's decision has caused widespread local anger

A group of students fighting to save Glasgow University's campus in Dumfries have completed their 100-mile protest march.
The students were campaigning against a decision by the university to suspend new admissions at its Crichton campus.
After arriving at the university's main Glasgow campus they presented Sir Muir Russell with letters and essays explaining why it should be saved.
The university has blamed a funding deficit for its decision
The four students had set off on their epic hike last Thursday amid concerns that the Crichton site could close completely in the future.
Glasgow suspended this year's student in-take for liberal arts, health and social studies degree courses at the Crichton, prompting fears of a withdrawal from the site.
The university is facing an £800,000 operating deficit, and has said it is working with the Scottish Funding Council and other bodies to try to secure its future in Dumfries.
But the university warned that retaining the campus must be financially sustainable.
