Site visit over Abbotsford plans
A site visit has taken place as part of the public inquiry into 15m housing plans opposite the historic home of Sir Walter Scott in the Borders.

M & J Ballantyne wants to build 79 homes on the site at Netherbank on the outskirts of Galashiels.

Opponents said housing would ruin the view but developers have argued that trees would provide adequate screening.

The inquiry, which opened in Galashiels last week, will be concluded at the end of the month.
