Firefighters stage river rescue

Firefighters helped to pull the man to safety on Sunday afternoon
Firefighters helped to haul a man to safety after he fell into the River Tweed in Kelso at the weekend.

They were called out on Sunday afternoon following reports that someone had been spotted in the river near Rennies Bridge in the town.

The Border Underwater Search Team and members of the Border Search and Rescue Unit helped during in the incident.

The man was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment but his injuries were not thought to be serious.

The name of the man involved has not been released.
