Community groups to stay separate

Dumfries and Galloway Council produced the report

Two important local agencies on domestic abuse and sexual violence should stay in separate locations, according to a new report.

A feasibility study drawn up for Dumfries and Galloway councillors has made the recommendations.

The Dumfriesshire and Stewartry Women's Aid and The South West Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Centre both receive grants from the local authority.

The review was undertaken to investigate ways of reducing overheads.

The report concluded that if both organisations were to share, then it could diminish and contradict the specific and individual services they offer.

Councillors are now being asked to support the continuation of the separate organisations.
