Developers M & J Ballantyne want to build the houses at Netherbarns
A date has been set for the public inquiry into 15m housing plans near the historic home of Sir Walter Scott in the Scottish Borders.

The two-day inquiry into the proposal by Kelso developers M&J Ballantyne to build 79 houses at Netherbarns, near Galashiels, will start on 17 January.

It will be held at the Abbotsford Arms Hotel in Galashiels.

Scottish Borders Council approved the application but it was called in after Historic Scotland made an objection.
