New Borders car-sharing project
Car-share website
The car-share website could help cut pollution and congestion
Residents in the Scottish Borders now have the opportunity to sign up to a new car-sharing scheme.

The scheme provides details of drivers who are willing to car share or who are seeking a lift not just locally, but across the country.

A website www.tripshareborders.com has been created to help people quickly and easily find someone who can share specific journeys.

Officials said the scheme would help reduce congestion and cut pollution.

The tripshare scheme is funded by the Scottish Executive through the South East of Scotland Transport Partnership (SESTRAN) and supported by Scottish Borders Council.
