New school site work is approved

Work will start on the Eyemouth project later this month

Moves have been agreed to allow essential site works to start at two new secondary schools in the Borders.

Scottish Borders Council's executive committee has given the green light to advanced works agreement for the projects in Eyemouth and Duns.

They will allow initial site preparation to begin this month on the two new high school schemes.

Officials have said the move was vital in order to avoid winter working and keep project costs down.

The new Berwickshire High School in Duns and the Eyemouth High School are part of a £60m Public Private Partnership plan.

The third school involved in the project is Earlston High where site negotiations are still ongoing.
