Strong response to business study

Businesses across the Borders responded to the survey
More than 600 companies in the Scottish Borders have given their opinion on how well they are being served by the region's council.

The authority wanted to find out views on the effectiveness of functions like waste collection, parking provision and environmental health.

The scheme was organised with the local Federation of Small Businesses.

Recommendations coming from the survey are expected to go before the council early next year.

The study was managed by a working party, chaired by Councillor Vicky Davidson.

She said it was the biggest survey of businesses ever undertaken by the council.

The councillor was particularly pleased that so many people made the effort to give additional comments and suggestions as to how services can be improved.

She has promised that these will be taken up with the directors of each council department concerned.
