The Cornet leads the procession through Langholm on Friday
Langholm enjoyed another spectacular day on Friday as its annual Common Riding celebrations took place.

Events started early with a flute band rousing the town, before Cornet Kevan Grieve set off on horseback to the Market Place for the burgh standard.

In a tradition going back to 1759, the town boundaries were inspected and the "fair crying" - a call to defend the area - was carried out.

The ceremony concluded in the evening with a rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

Langholm is one of many towns across southern Scotland which undertakes a "riding of the marches" ceremony to mark its historic boundaries.
