Police warning after purse thefts

Police have issued a warning for Borderers to be on their guard following two purse thefts in the area.

The first incident occurred in a busy shop in Kelso town centre on 10 July when an elderly lady was approached by three females who asked for her help.

A short time later she saw her purse had been taken from her shoulder bag.

The second case was in a Melrose shop on 11 July when, after being distracted by two females, a woman's purse was stolen from her shopping basket.
