Muckle Toon's care home delight
Langholm - Undiscovered Scotland
The new care home is seen as a boost to the town as a whole
A new care home which promises to create 70 full-time jobs has been approved for Langholm.

The major development has received the green light after years of campaigning by local residents to highlight the need for the facility.

The home will be built on the site of the former Townfoot flats.

Langholm councillor Dennis Male said it was good news for the town, which had been hit by a number of redundancy announcements in recent times.

"It is absolutely fantastic news that finally the old people's home plan for Langholm has received planning permission," he said.

"Langholm has had a bit of a hiding recently, losing 150 jobs over the last year.

"This is a boost because there will be the construction phase and then 70 full-time jobs after that."
