Man killed in bike accident named

A 58-year-old pedestrian who was killed when he was hit by a motorbike during rush hour, on the outskirts of Aberdeen, has been named by police.

Mohammed Mushtaq, of Thistle Court, Rose Street, Aberdeen, died after the incident on the A96, near Marshall Trailers, at about 1545 GMT on Friday.

It is understood he may have left a van and crossed the road to pray.

The 49-year-old rider of the BMW motorbike, who also lives locally, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed for six hours, causing major traffic delays.

The accident happened citybound, north of the Aberdeen Airport roundabout.
