One dead in lorry and bike crash

A male motorcyclist has died after an accident between his vehicle and a lorry on an Aberdeenshire road.

The accident happened shortly after 0900 GMT on the B977 between Kintore and Dunecht. It caused a fire.

The Scottish Ambulance Service, three Grampian Fire and Rescue Service crews and Grampian Police were all called to the scene on Wednesday morning.

An ambulance spokesperson told the BBC Scotland news website there had been a fatality.

The lorry driver was said to be shocked but uninjured.

The victim - believed to be from Aberdeenshire - is the 27th person to die on Grampian's roads this year.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
