A man caught having sex with an underage girl at an Aberdeen nursery school has been placed on probation for 18 months.

Paul Strath, 19, went to Byron Park Infant School in Northfield with the 13-year-old girl after chatting to her online and texting.

Strath was caught in the act by police officers, who were called to the scene by a suspicious neighbour.

At Aberdeen Sheriff Court he admitted having unlawful sex with a minor.

The school was closed and not in use at the time of the offence.

Serious offence

The court heard that Strath knew the girl was under 16 but said she told him she was 15.

Fiscal depute John Richardson previously told the court: "There was a conversation between the two and the accused asked the complainer if they could have sex. The complainer said yes."

Strath was also put on the sex offenders register for the October offence.

Sheriff Edward Savage told him: "I'm told that you appreciate the serious nature of this type of offence.

"You have various issues you need to address. One is your alcohol consumption and your attitude towards younger girls."
