'Lives lost to drugs' remembered

Michael Symon Watson's parents hope to help others

A church service to remember those whose lives have been lost through drugs is to be held in Aberdeen.

Organisers Michael and Maureen Watson lost their son Michael Symon Watson, 26, in 2003 due to drug abuse.

The service is seen as a chance for relatives and friends to reflect on loved ones lost, or even to help people with addictions.

The ecumenical service is being held at Gilcomston South Church in Union Street at 1930 GMT.

The couple said that those lost were "not just another junkie" but someone's child, partner or father.

Community and political figures are also expected to join the service.

A similar event last year was hailed a success.
