Probe after 'serious sex assault'

Grampian Police
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them

A woman has been the victim of a serious sexual assault in woods near an Aberdeen school, police have revealed.

The 36-year-old woman was attacked near Cults Primary School at about 2000 GMT on Tuesday.

Grampian Police said the area of the attack was popular with people walking their dogs.

Det Insp David Hadden said: "We'd appeal for anyone in that area who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact us."

He added: "The safety of our communities is paramount and extra high visibility patrols are being carried out in the area.

"This is a challenging enquiry that has required further investigation with the interests of the victim foremost."
