A teenager who raped a prostitute in an Aberdeen lane before being betrayed by a distinctive red condom has been jailed for six years.

Ricky Younger, 18, was found guilty of attacking the 24-year-old in the harbour area in January.

Police later found the condom he had taken from his victim's handbag, and DNA tests showed they had sex.

Judge Lord Hodge said: "A prostitute is entitled to the protection of the law just as much as any woman."

Younger claimed the woman had been a willing partner.

He was jailed at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Lord Hodge said: "The fact that your victim was a prostitute and she initially agreed to have sex with you does not alter the fact that while you were under the influence of drugs you behaved in an irrational manner, attacked her and then humiliated her."
