An Aberdeen MP has raised fears with the Prime Minister that a city workshop for blind and disabled people could be on the brink of closure. Management at Glencraft said it was feared Aberdeen City Council may not support a modified business plan. The company's board is due to meet later this week. Aberdeen South Labour member Anne Begg spoke during Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday. She called for council support for Glencraft. The furniture factory faced closure last year because of a cut in council funding, but the council agreed to buy it and lease it back. It reported record sales for January, with sales jumping 34% on the same period in 2008.
