Fochabers bypass contract signed

Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson has signed a contract for the long-awaited £31.5m bypass around the Moray town of Fochabers.

The aim of the new road is to relieve traffic congestion.

It would mean that vehicles on the A96 will not have to travel through Fochabers and Mosstodloch.

The project is set to begin in earnest next month. The work will be undertaken by Morrison Construction and is due for completion in 2012.
