Student in discrimination claim

The allegations are understood to centre on Indian students

A student has accused the University of Aberdeen of racial discrimination.

It is understood the allegation is that students are given marks based on the colour of skin and that some staff pass racial remarks about Indians.

The University of Aberdeen told BBC Scotland that the allegations would be investigated.

A spokesperson said: "The University of Aberdeen is committed to the equal treatment of all persons regardless of their race, origin or colour."

The university confirmed it had received a complaint of racial discrimination from a student.

The spokesperson said: "This is currently under investigation in line with the university's policy on student complaints."
