Post office embezzler avoids jail

An Aberdeen post office worker caught embezzling money has avoided being jailed.

Cashier Himanshu Srivastava, 29, stole £2,340 from the St Nicholas Centre over a period of eight months this year.

Suspicious bosses used CCTV cameras to catch the married father-of-one carrying out fraudulent transactions.

At Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Srivastava admitted embezzlement. Sheriff Kenneth Stewart imposed 180 hours of community service and a compensation order.

The Peterculter man was a first offender, the court heard.
