Woman injured in Kirkwall blaze

A woman has been taken to hospital after a fire on Orkney.

The blaze broke out at a house in Kirkwall's Slater Street at about 1100 BST and the emergency services were called to the scene.

Northern Constabulary said an elderly woman was injured in Tuesday morning's fire.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said the woman was taken to Balfour Hospital for treatment for burns. No further details were available.
