Council hails better child care

A positive follow-up report after child protection shortcomings at Moray Council were identified by government inspectors has been welcomed.

The inspectors had originally said they were not confident children at risk received the support they needed.

A draft action plan was approved and improvements have now been highlighted.

Sandy Riddell, the council's director of community services, said a vast amount of work had been done so far to address weaknesses.

The inspectors will return to check for continuing progress. The report said all the changes would take several years to be implemented.
