A man who sexually abused two young girls in the 1970s and 80s in north east Scotland has been jailed for five years after being brought from Germany.

William Robertson, 50, had been found guilty of lewd behaviour after a trial.

Robertson, who had been living in Germany, was convicted of abusing the girls in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Lord Woolman told the High Court in Edinburgh: "The sentence must reflect public revulsion, in particular it must deter others."

Lord Woolman told Robertson: "The abuse took place over a period of almost 14 years and it involved two complainers who were very young at the time."

A European warrant had been issued for Robertson's arrest in 2007.
