An oil and gas industry technology firm has said it hopes to create more jobs, after breaking the £1m monthly revenue barrier for the first time.

Red Spider, based at Westhill on the outskirts of Aberdeen, said revenue had grown 150% in the first half of 2009.

The company employs 48 people and is now looking to expand.

Managing director Steve Nicol said: "This is exceptional news for Red Spider, at a time when many businesses are seeing a downturn."

The company said it had secured work in Colombia, Germany, India, New Zealand and across the Middle East and West Africa.
