City house prices 'show recovery'

Aberdeen's housing market is showing signs of recovery, according to new figures.

The average property price for the second quarter of the year was £196,088, compared to £181,587 between January and March.

John MacRae, chairman of the Aberdeen Solicitors' Property Centre (ASPC), said: "The increase is encouraging."

However he sounded a note of caution, claiming that the second quarter was traditionally the most active.

He added: "Nevertheless, the statistics show a better picture than the first quarter of 2009 and the last quarter of 2008 so cautious optimism is perhaps justified."
