Orkney has been enjoying an economy boost after the largest cruise liner of the season visited the islands.

Almost 3,000 visitors are believed to have disembarked from the Costa Magica.

Half of the passengers were expected to travel around the local sites by coach, while the others decided to explore Kirkwall by foot.

Orkney Harbours marketing manager Michael Morrison said the operation to handle the large number of visitors was going very smoothly.
