The court heard Caie suffered from "grandiose delusions"

A former oil worker who attacked a prostitute as part of a bid to rid the streets of drugs has been detained at the State Hospital at Carstairs. Graham Caie, 31, took Sharline Wright to an Aberdeen golf course before repeatedly striking her with a pole and dumping her from his car in 2007. He believed himself to be the leader of "an elite band of vigilantes". At Edinburgh High Court Caie admitted the attack and was ordered to be detained. He had driven his victim from Aberdeen's Miller Street to Balnagask Golf Course where he attacked her with a metal bar. The court heard he suffered from "grandiose delusions". A doctor warned that, without continued treatment under conditions of high security, Caie could pose a danger to the public. Lord Bannatyne ordered that he should remain in the State Hospital and made a further order that he could only be released with the approval of the Scottish ministers.
