Anger over bus pay claim adverts

First Bus in Aberdeen
The result of the ballot is expected on 7 July

First Bus in Aberdeen has placed adverts in local newspapers claiming that staff are seeking a 52% pay rise.

The move has sparked a furious response from the T&G Unite union, which is currently balloting members over industrial action over wages.

The result of the ballot is expected on 7 July.

The company confirmed it had taken out the adverts, but the union's regional organiser Tommy Campbell said the claim was "absurd".

The union is recommending a vote in favour of industrial action this summer.

Similar action last year brought buses to a standstill before a deal was done.
